Born on Bali (Indonesia) with Netherlands nationality, Marianne Cats, spent her life in countries throughout Asia (Indonesia & Hong Kong), East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda), South America (Brasil, Ecuador & Surinam) and since 1985, at that time Netherlands Antilles. During her abode in Brazil and later in Ecuador, her interest in drawing and painting developed, resulting in exhibitions in Guayaquil and Quito. A later period again in Africa (Mozambique and South Africa) from 1980 until 1984 provided further subjects for Marianne's work.
In 1985, when Curacao became her home, she was absorbed by the colorful architectonic beauty of street panoramas and idyllic scenes as well as its history. Being inspired as a painter as well as a working architect, she translated her visions of the Antillean past into watercolors and acrylic paintings. Please go to history for
